Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / Azerbaijan is an important partner for European Union (EU) not only as energy supplier but also a transit country, EU Special Representative, Pieter Semneby, said in Baku on 18 October.
" Azerbaijan's role in energy issues as a source is very important. The country is also important for transit of energy resources from Central Asia," he said.
Trans-Caspian pipeline is one of the priority routes for EU important for diversification of energy resources and transit routes, Semneby said. The pipeline will enable gas transportation from Turkmenistan via Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to Europe. The gas may be pumped into any European pipeline - NABUCCO, Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline and others.
NABUCCO project is very important for EU, its several member countries, and energy companies, he said.
