Tengiz oil transportation via Azerbaijan to up in July

Daily pumping of Kazakh oil will hit 100,000 barrel from Tengiz field through Azerbaijan from July, source on oil and gas market said.

Roughly 20,000 barrel of total volume to be transported via Azerbaijan will fall on railroad transportation with terminal in Georgian Black Sea port Batumi. The rest 80,000 barrel will be transported via BTC oil pipeline, he said.  

Roughly 5 million tons of Kazakh oil will be transported via Azerbaijan in 2009, KazMunayGaz national company head Kairgeldi Kabildin said.

Over 3 million tons of total volume of Kazakh oil to be transported will fall on Tengiz field, Kabildin said.

Roughly 18 million tons was extracted in Tengiz field in 2008. But roughly 25 million tons was extracted in 2009.

U.S Company ChevronTexaco launched transportation of Tengiz oil via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (ВТС) pipeline in 2008. Oil will be transported from Kazakhstan via BTC and railroad to Georgia's ports (Kulevi and Batumi) upon the agreement. ChevronTexaco is operator of Kazakh field Tengiz. 

BTC Co share holders are BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); StatoilHydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Hess (2.36 percent).

The state oil company of Azerbaijan is owner of Georgia's Black Sea terminal in Kulevi. KazMunayGaz is owner of oil port Batumi.
