If Europe delays the purchases of the Azerbaijani gas, gas from the Caspian Sea will go to Asia irretrievably, said a senior representative of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Earlier the head of the Kazakh KazMunaiGaz, Kairgeldi Kabyldin spoke about the possibility of the Azerbaijani gas delivery to China through using the infrastructure of Kazakhstan.

"If we have no option to transport the gas through transit countries, and there is no commitment from customers to create these conditions so that Europe can buy gas, and that Asia could buy the gas, we will do which we warned three years ago. If Europe long drags this issue, all the gas from the Caspian Sea will go to Asia irretrievably. This is serious. This is much more serious than it seems," said the representative of SOCAR.

He noted that a priority direction of transporting the Azerbaijani gas is still European.

The representative of SOCAR said "if you compare the expected real price of Central Asian against zero selling price in Europe [because this gas cannot be delivered to Europe], then it is better to sell the gas at an average price.

He added that China is a country with the greatest needs in the gas, which is looking for markets for its purchase. There is a variant of a gas pipeline from Kazakhstan. Gas may also be transported through Turkmenistan. The Turkmenistan-China pipeline will be ready as early as December this year. "A bridge between us and Turkmenistan is 150 km," said the representative of SOCAR.
