Iran reduces import of petrol by 90 percent

The import of petrol reduced by 90 percent and amounted to 163,000 tons in Iran in September this year, while in August Iran imported 1.640 million tons of petrol, Fars news agency said.

The import of petrol reduced by 90 percent and amounted to 163,000 tons in Iran in September this year, while in August Iran imported 1.640 million tons of petrol, Fars news agency said.

During the first half (a year in Iran begins on March 21) petrol import to Iran amounted to 3.179 million liters.

Senior officials of the Iranian government repeatedly voiced intentions to stop the import of petrol by implementing projects to increase production at petrochemical complexes.

Today oil refineries in Bandar-Abbas (21 percent of all petrol produced in the country), oil refinery in Abadan (20.2 percent), Isfahan (18.2), Tehran (15), Arak (10,4), Tabriz (6.2), Shiraz (3.8), Lavan (2.4) and Kermanshah (1.7) produce petrol.
