In order to ensure safety and prevent gas leakage "Azerigaz" Production Unit of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) controls gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, deputy head of the Security, Ecology and Quality Department of the "Azerigaz" Production Unit of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Kamal Tarverdiyev said over phone within an open hour for press.
He said control of main gas pipelines is conducted by employees of eight offices owned by the Production Unit.
"Not only gas pipelines are inspected, but also the relevant enterprises, in particular, gas compressor stations and other facilities are inspected as well," Tarverdiyev said. Daily control is conducted on all gas mains and enterprises necessary for service, it also applies to the gas pipelines via which Azerbaijan transports its gas abroad.
The length of all gas pipelines in Azerbaijan is 4,500 kilometers. Gas pipelines are repaired every five years to ensure their normal operation.
