Cabinet of Minister’s decision to ensure the rights of consumers of gas in Azerbaijan

The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan on amendments to the rules for using gas prohibiting the termination of gas supply, without the written warning, has created a legal framework for the application of penalties against violators of the Code of Administrative Violations.

The head of the Office of state gas control of the country under the Ministry of Industry and Energy Asif Zeynalov told Trend on Friday.

Zeynalov noted that according to the decision, the termination of gas supply can be realized only after subscriber is notified of the debt and failure to pay it within a month.
The fine prescribed in the Code of Administrative Violations can be applied to those who violate these rules.

The administration said, in the case of such violations, consumers can contact the management.

"It will ensure the protection of the rights and interests of consumers," Zeynalov said.
Termination of gas supply, electricity and heat to individuals without the written warning is prohibited in accordance with the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan
The decisions came into force on February 17 2012.

Termination of gas, electricity and heating supply, without written warning is considered as an administrative violation in Azerbaijan.

In this regard, the Code of Administrative Offences (Art. 116.0.7) introduced the item providing liability for unlawful termination of gas, electricity and heating system supply, or in cases when the supply of gas, electricity and heating are suspended without written warning to the consumer.

For these violation individuals are fined for 200-500 manat, officials for 1000-1500 manat, legal entities for 2500-3000 manat.
