Azerenergy, (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) generated 21,3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2012, compared to about 20 billion kilowatt-hours in 2011, Azerenergy reported on Monday.
The bulk of electricity generated last year accounted for thermal power plants.
Azerenergy generated more than 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in December, which is same as in 2011.
The flow of electricity with neighbouring countries such as Russia, Iran, Turkey and Georgia was continued during reporting period.
Capacity of power plants owned by Azerenergy exceeds 6000 megawatts.
The balance sheet of Azerenergy includes more than 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kV, as well as six hydroelectric and 13 thermal power plants.
