From January-October, the Baku International Sea Trade Port transhipped nearly 1.16 million tons of oil, which is one per cent more than the figures for same period of 2012, a source in Baku port told Trend on Nov. 26.

According to the interlocutor, a slight increase in the transhipment of oil by the port was achieved for the first time in recent years. This is related to the increase of flow from the Central Asia. The previous decline in port transhipment of oil from Central Asia was associated with redirecting them to the oil terminal in Sangachal and other terminals since last year.

"In comparison with the previous period, a one percent increase was achieved in the volume of oil cargo transhipment, which is a very good indicator," the source said.

In 2012, the port transhipped 1.4 million tons of oil against 1.74 million tons in 2011. In 2010, the port transhipped 1.99 million tons of oil, which is 21 per cent lower than in 2009.
