Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR intends to construct a 360-kilometer gas pipeline in Georgia before late 2017, reads a message posted on the company’s website.
The pipeline will make it possible to provide around 9,000 users with gas in Georgia.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Georgia Azer Huseyn, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Energy Minister Ilya Eloshvili and Chairman of the Government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara Zurab Pataradze took part in a ceremony of connecting the millionth user to the gas pipeline network.
“Currently, SOCAR Georgia Gas has 66,821 active and potential customers. The total length of the medium and low pressure gas pipelines is 972.6 kilometers,” said the message. “It is planned to construct a 360-kilometer gas pipeline before late 2017 and to provide 8,935 more users with gas.”
SOCAR operates gas distribution networks in various regions of Georgia through SOCAR Georgia Gas.
