By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey told Trend that it has denied permission to two Turkish companies to conduct oil and gas explorations in the country.

Memba Enerji ve Madencilik A.S. and Alpay Enerji A.S. were denied permission to carry out oil and gas explorations in Turkey.

The ministry didn’t disclose the reason for the refusal.

The two companies applied to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey in June 2015 to carry out oil and gas explorations in the vicinity of Istanbul, the ministry said.

In April 2014, a legislation allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks came into force in Turkey.
