Kazakhstan will increase the transshipment of oil products along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route in 2018, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Railways Kanat Alpysbaev said.

He made the remarks at a general meeting of members of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) International Association in Baku on May 8.

"The Association members are working to increase the transshipment of petroleum products along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Particularly, the Kazakh side undertakes to further develop the increase in the transshipment of oil products to over 700,000 tons by late 2018," Alpysbaev said.

Kazakhstan plans to increase the production of petroleum products up to 11.6 million tons in 2018, which is 1.3 million tons more than in 2017.

The key driver for increasing the production of petroleum products in Kazakhstan is modernization of the country's three largest oil refineries in Atyrau, Shymkent and Pavlodar.

The list of products produced at the Kazakh refineries will include gasoline, aviation fuel, benzene, paraxylene, liquefied gas, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil, bitumen, petroleum coke, sulfur and heating oil.
