Azerbaijan increases electricity exports

According to the customs declarations, in January-September 2018, Azerbaijan has exported 1.27 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity against 812.34 million kilowatt-hours, exported during the same period of 2017.

According to the customs declarations, in January-September 2018, Azerbaijan has exported 1.27 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity against 812.34 million kilowatt-hours, exported during the same period of 2017, the statistical report of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan says.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan has exported electricity worth almost $59.64 million, against exports of $36.23 million in January-September 2017.

According to the customs declarations, in 2017, Azerbaijan exported 1.16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, against 646.76 million kilowatt-hours, exported in 2016.

The main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan is Azerenergy OJSC, which has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants on its balance sheet.

The generation capacity of the power system of Azerbaijan is 7172.6 megawatts, which allows for generating about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This enables Azerbaijan to export 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
