Turkey’s "Artı Iletişim telekom ltd. şti.", "Traoil Doğal Enerji Kaynakları Araştırma ve Üretim Sanayi Tic. A. Ş." and "Tekirdağ Enerji" companies have obtained a license for the exploration of oil and gas in the country, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, a license for oil and gas exploration was issued in the Turkish provinces of Kirklareli and Tekirdag with a total area of 72,000 hectares.

"The companies that have received a license for oil and gas exploration appealed to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in March 2018," the ministry said.

Earlier the ministry told Trend that Turkey has expanded the territory for oil and gas exploration.

According to the information, if earlier there were problems with oil and gas exploration in a number of eastern provinces of Turkey, now hydrocarbons are also being explored.

"These works are also being carried out in the Black Sea," the ministry said.

In April 2014, a law allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks was passed in Turkey.

According to the report of the Ministry of Energy, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields in the country since 2014, of which 54 are onshore and two are at sea.

Earlier natural gas reserves were discovered in the vicinity of Istanbul and in the province of Tekirdag in north-west Turkey.
