By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is currently considering two new projects for gas transportation to Georgia’s mountainous regions, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the SOCAR public relations and events department, told Trend.

He recalled that SOCAR Georgia Gas implemented a project for gas supply to Sairme highland resort in 2018.

“As part of the project, known as Virtual Gas Pipeline, a special transportation container is filled with gas of up to 240 bar (CNG) at one of the gas filling compressor stations of SOCAR and is transported to Sairme resort via a special vehicle. The electronic control system allows to remotely control the volume and pressure of the gas, as well as the state of the network, which ensures uninterrupted and safe gas supply. This technology makes it possible to supply natural gas to hard-to-reach regions of the country,” said Ahmadov.

He noted that the pilot phase of the project has already been completed and the project is implemented in the operational mode.

“Currently, two more projects are under consideration for gas supply to interested commercial organizations in the mountainous regions of western Georgia. Both projects are at the evaluation stage,” Ahmadov added.
