Combined cycle power plant to be put into operation in Iran's Ardabil Province

The first steam unit of a combined cycle power plant to be launched in the Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran) on February 9, Deputy Director of Thermal Power Plant Holding Company Hamid Sardari said in a press conference, Trend reports citing the Mehr news agency.

According to Sardari, this power plant can produce 1,440 megawatt-hours of electricity.

Sardari added that this power plant has 6 gas and 3 steam units. Under standard conditions, each unit has the potential to generate 160 megawatt-hours of electricity.

The deputy director noted that 410 million euro was spent on the construction of three steam units. About 75 percent of these funds were provided by the National Development Fund of Iran (NDFI), and the rest by the investor.

"About 140 million euro was spent on the construction of first steam unit," he said.

Sardari stressed it is projected that the second steam unit of the power plant will be launched in the summer, and the third unit in the autumn. Each steam unit will consume about 250 million cubic meters of gas.

The deputy director also said that 70 percent of the equipment used at the station was produced domestically and 30 percent was supplied from foreign countries.
