Kazakhstan reports decrease in oil, gas extraction volumes

The volume of oil extraction in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.9 million tons in January 2021, which is 14 percent less than during the same month of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Industrial manufacturing in the country decreased by 4.1 percent compared to the reporting period of 2020. The gas condensate production equaled 1.1 million tons in Jan. 2021, which is 0.8 percent less than during the same month of 2020.

Thus, the manufacturing of copper ore amounted to 9.8 million tons, which is 6.7 percent less compared to the reporting month of 2020. Manufacturing of petrol amounted to 0.4 million tons (decrease by 4.2 percent).

Manufacturing of Portland cement was 0.5 million tons, which is 61.2 percent more than during the same period of 2020. Manufacturing of flat metal was 0.2 million tons (increase by 4.7 percent), of gasoil to 0.3 million tons (decrease by 15.6 percent), of electricity to 11 billion kWh (increase by 5.4 percent).

The committee production of crude oil, natural gas, and ores, except for iron ores decreased in Jan. 2021 compared to Jan. 2020.

“The production volumes of foodstuffs, tobacco products, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, metallurgical industry and mechanical engineering increased. The production of refined products, wood products, paper, and paper products decreased,” the report said.
