Turkmenistan intends to increase the total electricity generation by 2025, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
In particular, according to the plan, by 2025, the total electricity generation in Turkmenistan should reach 34.2 billion kWh.
Until 2025, electricity generation in the Lebap region of the country will increase by 1.4 times compared to 2019 and exceed 3 billion kWh. In general, the capacity of the energy system in the region is increasing.
Currently, Turkmenistan is actively joining the unified energy system of Central Asia and plays an important role in creating additional opportunities for further increasing the volume of supplies of Turkmen electricity to international destinations.
Turkmenistan is expected to grow electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025. The construction of new power plants, power transmission lines, modern transformer substations and switchgears will contribute to the growth of exports.
Earlier, Turkmen Ministry of Energy said that there are opportunities to transit Turkmen electricity through Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Pakistan and India.
Turkmenistan plans to generate up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030.
