By Fakhri Vakilov – Trend:
Uzbekneftegaz JSC has discovered a new gas condensate field in the central part of the Ustyurt region, Trend reports with reference to the company.
Drilling was carried out at well No. 3 of the Sharkiy Berdak field, on the territory of Karakalpakstan, geologically in the central part of the Ustyurt region.
Drilling of this well began on January 12, 2021. Despite the complex structure of deep underground layers and various geological difficulties, the well was drilled to a depth of 4,309 meters.
As a result of well tests, Uzbekneftegaz identified promising formations at a depth of more than 4,300 meters, natural gas flows were obtained and a new gas condensate field “Kuyi Sharkiy Berdak” was discovered.
According to preliminary data, the daily flow rate of the natural gas product obtained from this well will be more than 1 million cubic meters.
Currently, research work is underway to determine a number of mining and geological indicators, such as the pressure and temperature of productive formations in the well, as well as an assessment of the production capacity of the field on an industrial scale.
Hydrocarbons extracted from the new Kuyi Sharkiy Berdak gas condensate field will be primarily used to provide the population of Uzbekistan, as well as for the most important sectors of the economy, with natural gas and meet their demand for fuel and energy.
In order to accelerate geological exploration at the Kuyi Sharkiy Berdak field and increase hydrocarbon reserves at well No. 2, Uzbekneftegaz JSC is drilling at a depth of 4,308 meters, and in the future it is also planned to receive natural gas streams from this well on an industrial scale.
At the same time, based on the operational analysis in the shortest possible time of the positive results obtained from well No. 3 at the field, the goal was set to begin drilling work on two more prospecting wells No. 4 and No. 5 by the end of 2021, and preparatory work has begun on their implementation.
