By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran’s oil refining capacity in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) will reach 1.55 million barrels per day, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The minister emphasized that the daily oil refining capacity in the province is currently 850,000 barrels.

Owji also added that 4 facilities are being built in the Hormozgan Province to increase oil refining capacity.

“One of these facilities is the second phase of the Qeshm Behin Pars Oil Refinery. The phase is estimated to be built and launched over the next three years at a cost of $400 million,” he said.

According to Owji, Iranian Oil Ministry invites and supports all investors to support the oil-gas sector in Hormozgan Province.

The minister noted that by increasing Iran's oil and gas refining capacity, it is possible to prevent the sale of oil in crude form.

On January 13, 2022, the foundation of the second phase of the Qeshm Behin Pars Oil Refinery in Iran's Hormozgan Province was laid.
