BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11. Iran's daily gas exports to Iraq decreased by 30 percent from the beginning of the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 22 through July 21, 2023), compared to the daily average of the previous month (May 22 through May 21, 2023), Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei said, Trend reports.

Joulaei noted that Iran's gas exports to Iraq averaged 30 million cubic meters per day in the 3rd month, while in the 4th month, it decreased to 21 million cubic meters per day.

The reason for the decrease - hot weather in the country, which affected the work of the gas refining and gas transportation equipment, he said.

"This had a negative effect on gas transportation to the west of the country,” the official added.

Reportedly, the contract regarding Iran's gas export to Iraq expires this year. An agreement was reached on extending Iran's gas export to Iraq for 5 years.

Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. Iran's gas production capacity is more than 1 billion cubic meters.
