BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 29. It is planned to commence drilling the first production well as part of the Deep Gas project at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block offshore Azerbaijan from the West Azeri platform in 2024, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp's Vice President for the Caspian region, Communications and External Affairs, told a local TV channel, Trend reports.
He recalled that in January 2023, bp initiated the drilling of an appraisal well as part of the Deep Gas project at ACG, completing the drilling process in April.
“Currently, the data obtained from this drilling is undergoing interpretation. As part of the project, ongoing discussions are taking place with Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR concerning the technical and commercial parameters of deep gas production,” added bp’s vice president.
The drilling of A22z well from the Chirag platform took place at the beginning of 2023 to reach deep gas reservoirs on the southern flank. The well’s total depth is about 4,500 meters.
BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited is the operator on behalf of the Contractor Parties to the ACG Production Sharing Agreement.
ACG participating interests are: bp (30.37%), SOCAR (25.0%), MOL (9.57%), INPEX (9.31%), Equinor (7.27%), ExxonMobil (6.79%), TPAO (5.73%), ITOCHU (3.65%), ONGCVidesh (2.31%).
