Aggregate loan portfolio of commercial banks in Uzbekistan increases

In the first quarter of 2020, the aggregate loan portfolio of commercial banks in Uzbekistan increased, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Aggregate credit portfolio of commercial banks of Uzbekistan grew by 4.9 percent up to 221.9 trillion soum ($21.9 billion) for the first quarter of 2020. Credits of legal entities increases their share in aggregate credit portfolio by four percent to 178.4 trillion soum ($17.6 billion), individuals - by 8.9 percent to 43.5 trillion soum ($4.2 billion), the report said.

The highest debts of the population to banks were recorded on mortgage loans - 22.6 trillion soum ($2.2 billion, an increase of 11 percent), car loans - 6.3 trillion soum ($621.9 million, an increase of 15.5 percent), loans for entrepreneurship development - 5.98 trillion soum ($590.3 million, a decrease of 7.5 percent) and micro loans - 3.98 trillion soum ($39.8 million, an increase of 25.4 percent).

Currently, 30 commercial banks are operating in Uzbekistan, including 13 banks with the state capital, which structure includes 853 branches, 1,093 banking service centers and 1,097 24-hour self-service points.

In the first quarter of 2020, the total volume of total investments in the fixed capital of Uzbekistan's enterprises decreased by 10.2 percent compared to the same indicator of 2019 to 33.4 trillion soums ($3.2 billion).

The share of total volume of assimilated investments in the country's GDP made up 30.2 percent.
