Kazakhstan's monetary base expands compared to Dec. 2019

The value of Kazakhstan’s monetary base amounted to 9.09 trillion tenges ($21.6 billion) in Jul. 2020, which is 32 percent more than at the beginning of the year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

The value of Kazakhstan’s reserves has also increased by 7.9 percent compared to June 2020.

“The narrow money reserves equaled 4.8 trillion tenges ($11.5 billion), which is a 10.4 percent decline compared to the beginning of the year. The narrow money reserves have decreased by 3.4 percent compared to June 2020,” the report said.

“In turn, the value of the currency in circulation stood at 2.8 trillion tenges ($6.8 billion), which is 25.4 percent more compared to the beginning of the year, and 3.6 percent more than in June 2020,” the statement said.

M1 money aggregate increased by 14 percent since the beginning of the year and amounted to 6.7 trillion tenges ($16.1 billion), whereas M2 money aggregate increased by 11.7 percent and equaled 17.9 trillion tenges ($42.7 billion).

“The broad money value amounted to 23.5 trillion tenges ($56.1 billion), which is a 10.5 percent increase in comparison to the beginning of the year. Broad money value has also increased by 4.1 percent compared to June 2020,” the report said.
