The number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks reached more than 22.1 million as of early May 2021, increasing by 13.4 percent compared to early May 2020, Trend reports with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
A big part (86.6 percent) in the structure of client accounts accounted for 19.1 million current accounts, which is by 15 percent more in annual terms.
Almost the entire share belongs to individuals (18.9 million) in the structure of current accounts.
Credit accounts, which account for 12.4 percent in the structure of client accounts, reached 2.7 million while the share of deposit accounts accounted for one percent or about 230,000.
The number of bank clients by early May 2021, having increased by 17.8 percent, reached 9.7 million, 9.6 million of them are individuals.
Some 26 banks operate in Azerbaijan, two of which are state-owned and 24 are private.
