Iranian Post Bank boosts lending to local start-ups

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. The amount of loans provided by Post Bank of Iran to start-up companies increased by 3 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Executive Director of bank Behzad Shiri said, Trend reports.

The director noted that Iran’s Post Bank provided loans worth 3.7 trillion rials (about $88.2 million) to 48 start-up companies during 7 months.

He added that the bank granted loans to 108,258 individuals and legal entities in the country in the totaling approximately 147 trillion (about $3.49 billion).

According to Shiri, in the 7th month alone (September 23 through October 22, 2023), a transaction worth 4.8 quadrillion rials (about $114 billion) was carried out by Post Bank of Iran.

Post Bank of Iran has 403 branches in the country.

In total, the Iranian banks issued loans worth about 20.4 quadrillion rials (about $485 billion) in various economic sectors within the first 6 months of the current Iranian year.
