Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.14 / Trend , H.Veliyev /

Azerbaijan and Estonia intend to intensify the cooperation in the information and communication technologies (ICT) sphere, Estonia-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce Chairwoman Jana Krimpe told Trend today.

Krimpe said that the cooperation between the countries in the IT sphere is based on the agreement on cooperation in the ICT sphere signed in September 2009. The sides intend to launch discussions on concrete projects in this direction. Krimpe said today cooperation in the sphere of establishing e-government, introduction of e-trade, e-banking, surveillance systems using global positioning systems (GPS), as well as cooperation in the sphere of establishment of industrial parks are considered.

According to Krimpe, the main issue on the agenda is to develop strategy on combating against cybercrime. Azerbaijani specialists familiarized with the activity of the NATO's Cyber Defense Center K-5 in Tallinn, and collaborate in this area on a regular basis.

Governments of Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Finland have already shown interest in K-5 system. Computer Security Center K-5, established under the NATO's support, has turned Estonia into the leader in IT-security technologies and fully conforms to the NATO's development strategy, which provides protection from new asymmetrical threats, such as information attacks.
