Azerbaijan, Baku, May 19 / Trend H.Valiyev /
Azerbaijan is expected to adopt a national strategy on intellectual property for 2011-2014, the Azerbaijani Copyright Agency told Trend on Thursday.
Azerbaijan's strategy on intellectual property protection is approved by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the European Commission.
"The document is submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. The discussions are underway on technical aspects. Following the additions and changes, the document can be adopted in the near future," the agency said.
The strategy reflects the problems of the intellectual property sphere, including methods to combat the production and sale of counterfeit products, etc.
The strategy provided 30 target areas, where about 90 specific activities have been combined.
Azerbaijan may become one of the first countries in the world to adopt a long-term national strategy on intellectual property. The country already set up a joint commission composed of specialists of the Copyright Agency r and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents to coordinate efforts in this direction.
