One of the key areas of cooperation between Russian GLONASS JSC (Global Navigation Satellite System) and Uzbek SmartGeo will be a project to create an emergency response system in Uzbekistan during road traffic and other road accidents, a representative of GLONASS JSC told Trend in an interview.
Recently, Trend reported that GLONASS and SmartGeo signed a memorandum of cooperation on the development of navigation and information technologies in the transport sector.
The representative noted that the memorandum, signed on October 1 as part of the meeting of the Russian-Uzbek business council, will ensure the consolidation of the unique technological solutions and expertise accumulated by GLONASS JSC during the implementation of the functions of the ERA-GLONASS operator and the efforts of the Uzbek SmartGeo company.
“This cooperation will allow achieving high results in digital transformation of the economy of Uzbek economy,” the official said.
One of the key national interests of Uzbekistan is improving road safety.
The official stated that for the successful implementation of this task, it is advisable to use the expertise, competencies and technological solutions of organizations with significant experience in the fields of information and communication technologies, navigation activities and transport security.
The representative added that GLONASS JSC and SmartGeo also intend to cooperate in creating a unified intellectual digital transport and logistics platform for monitoring vehicles, including those carrying out passenger and cargo transportation, in order to solve state tasks of efficient traffic management, as well as the provision of related commercial services.
“It is also envisaged to create a technological basis in the interests of information support of Uzbekistan in order to form a unified state technical policy and ensure compatibility of various industry navigation, information, geoinformation and telematic systems,” the representative said.
As part of a public-private partnership based on SmartGeo, it is proposed to create a national operator of geoinformation and communication services.
“The cooperation plans include equipping the road transport of Uzbekistan in its production with modern safety devices, as well as introduction of intelligent traffic safety systems,” the official said.
GLONASS JSC is the operator of the state automated information system ERA-GLONASS. The system was created to protect the life and health of citizens, to implement a number of modern measures to ensure the safety of vehicles, as well as for mass civilian use of the Russian global navigation satellite system GLONASS. The infrastructure of the ERA-GLONASS system is the basis for creating modern products using advanced navigation and network technologies.
