The total revenue received by Georgian telecom operators in 2020 was 1.153 million lari ($352,828), while in 2019, the total revenue was 1.185 million lari ($362,621), Trend reports referring to Georgian National Communication Commission.
In 2020, telecom operators received 32 million lari ($9.7 million) less revenue than the previous year.
In 2020, revenues from retail services amounted to 961 million lari ($294 million). Retail revenue includes both fixed internet and mobile, roaming, landline, and broadcasting transit revenues.
The retail revenue of mobile operators in 2020 amounted to 490 million lari ($149 million), which is 9 million lari ($2.7 million) less than the retail revenue earned in 2019.
As for the retail revenue from fixed broadband internet services, this figure increased by 5 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year and amounted to 277 million lari ($84.7 million), which led to the transition of services to a remote mode in the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic.
Telecoms also saw a decline in roaming revenue, which was also caused by the pandemic. In 2020, companies received 8.7 million lari ($2.6 million) from roaming, which is 35 million lari ($10.7 million) less than the previous year.
In 2020, there was a decrease in fixed telephone services. In particular, in 2020, companies received 30.2 million lari ($9.2 million), which is 5.3 million lari ($1.6 million) less than the previous year.
