WORKS ON USTDA GRANT ARE PLANNED TO START IN AUTUMN

The works on grant agreement, under which the amount of some 735,000 USD was allocated and which was signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan (MCIT) and the US Agency on Trade and Development (USTDA- United States Trade and Development Agency) are planned to start in autumn. Earlier the works were supposed to commence on 19 September, however, due to some objective reasons they were delayed for later period, MCIT told Trend.

The agreement covers rendering consulting services related to the transfer of technologies, restructuring and structural management, facilitation in improving of MCIT awareness of the up-to-date practice in the information and communication technologies sector, as well
as assistance in determining and setting the dates for establishing new institutional relations for improvement of national procedures for policy-making.

Under the grant agreement for implementation of the above-mentioned measures MCIT is to approve 3 advisors on strategic, legal and financial matters.

The term of the agreement, expiring in July 2006 plans to render technical assistance in strategic and institutional restructuring of the Communications Ministry.

The agreement was signed in the current January by the MCIT Minister Ali Abbasov and charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Baku Jeyson Highland.
