Today, on October 4, an international conference Special Economic Areas: New Trends in Azerbaijan`s Stable Economic Development within the exhibition BakuTel 2006, Trend reports.
The conference consists of 4 plenary sessions: The Role of Technoparks in Development of Small-Scale and Medium Innovation Entrepreneurship, The Foundation of the Regional Base on Production and Export of Electric Equipment and Software, The Transformation of the Country to an Advantageous Transit Information Space (Data Centre), The Preparation and Development of Human Resources for the Forming Information Society.
Luis Sanz, General Director of the International Associations of Scientific Parks opened the conference with an opening speech. Asya Rudkovskaya, a Consultant of the Internet Business Solution Group of Cisco Systems, who told about the experience of technoparks in Dubai.
Touching upon the issue on foundation of the corresponding objects in Azerbaijan, she pointed out that benefits in taxation or even the lack of taxation at all play an important role in this respect.
We distinctly see the attention of the leadership of the country towards this project. And the President of the country expressed his hope that Azerbaijan will become the regional centre in the sphere of communication and IT, she pointed out.
Mrs. Rudkovskaya also told that in order to implement this project, financial and legal mechanisms should be neatly determined. Sure, all that should be directly introduced under the assistance of the Government of the country. A favourable climate should be created for investments from foreign companies as well, she pointed out.
During the sessions, reports of representatives of HP, Alcatel, British Telecom, AZEL are expected to be heard.
