Germany talks projects implemented in Azerbaijan's transport sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 2

A number of events in the field of the transport sector were organized in Azerbaijan jointly with the local state structures in 2021 under ‘Sustainable Urban Mobility in the South Caucasus’ (Mobility4Cities) regional program, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) told Trend.

The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.

According to the agency, Mobility4Cities orients its contribution to developing activity of the program partners. Within the program, expertise from Germany and other European countries in the frame of an urban mobility has been offered.

“We offered the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku Transport Agency and Municipality of Sumgait to participate in the online events aimed at introduction of introductory materials for transport sector and their spreading among the partners in paper and digital form,” GIZ said.

Besides, Workshop on Intelligent Transport Systems was held in September 2021. This event was organized within Mobility4Cities in close cooperation with the GIZ regional program - ‘Good Governance for Local Development’.

Moreover, Transport and Climate Change Week was held last year. This event was organized within ‘TRANSfer’, a project implemented by GIZ and funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

The agency also added that ‘COVID-19 and Urban Mobility’ event was organized in July 2021 within ‘Connective Cities’ project jointly with the Association of German Cities (Deutscher Städtetag), GIZ and the Service Agency Communities in One World of Engagement Global.
