BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The number of flights (passenger planes only) from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Iran’s Tehran increased by 200 percent, during the Nowruz holiday (March 16 through March 27, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Director of the airport Alireza Majzoobi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Majzoobi, a total of 1,834 flights were carried out from the airport within the mentioned period.

The deputy director added that more than 278,000 passengers were transported through the airport during the reporting period. This is 285 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year.

Thus, 75,000 passengers were transported to Istanbul, Turkey, and vice versa within 385 flights, he said.

At the same time, 45,000 passengers were carried in the direction to Najaf, Iraq, and the other way round in 310 flights, Majzoobi noted.

The official also pointed out that 41,000 passengers were moved to Dubai, the UAE, and back within 221 flights.
