BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. The turnover of agricultural products between Russia and Kazakhstan demonstrates steady growth, reaching $3.6 billion in 2022 which is 24 percent more compared to 2021, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting between Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev and his Russian counterpart Dmitriy Patrushev as part of the visit of the Kazakh delegation to Moscow.
Karashukeyev emphasized the need to continue efforts to enhance trade between Kazakhstan and Russia, improve its structure, and expand the range of goods being traded. Currently, Kazakhstan exports salt, pasta, confectionery products, and rice to Russia, while importing mainly flour confectionery products, beverages, chocolate, and oil.
However, there are certain issues concerning mutual restrictions on the supply of livestock and plant products. The Kazakh minister highlighted the importance of taking into account the agreements within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) framework on mutual supplies and adhering to the principles of partnership.
During the meeting, the ministers also discussed the exchange of experience in digitizing the agricultural sector, as well as measures for state support and financing of the industry.
As a result of the meeting, both parties explored the possibility of signing a separate interdepartmental agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture, particularly in the areas of agro-innovation, agricultural science, veterinary medicine, crop production, and animal husbandry.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan is currently focused on developing agricultural science and creating favorable conditions for private agricultural businesses.
