ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 26. The Republic of Kazakhstan has seen a remarkable surge in customs revenues for the first half of 2023, reaching a staggering 1.9 trillion Kazakh tenge ($4.2 billion) after distribution among the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member countries, Eldos Saudabaev, Director of the Control Department, said, Trend reports.
He made the remark at the Central Communications Center of Kazakhstan.
According to him, this figure represents a substantial 21 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The boost in customs revenues has been attributed to the government's concerted efforts to enhance trade volume and streamline customs administration processes.
Furthermore, he noted that the VAT revenue from imports alone amounted to 890 billion Kazakh tenge ($2 billion), showcasing a remarkable 71 percent rise when compared to the figures of the same period last year. This indicates a notable upswing in commercial activities and cross-border trade within the country.
Additionally, Saudabaev touched on the violations of customs legislation. According to Saudabaev, the number of detected violations during the first half of 2023 surged by 38 percent when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Earlier, it was noted that an integrated single-window control system is being introduced in Kazakhstan in collaboration with various government entities and organizations.
