ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 14. Kazakhstan's Steel Manufacturing to launch mass production of cartridges of various calibers in 2024, Trend reports.
This was stated during the visit of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov to the special economic zone Saryarka.
The commissioning of the rifle line is expected to be completed this year.
The Kazakhstan's cartridge plant is a unique enterprise. A high level of safety and automation is ensured here; almost all processes for assembling cartridges take place without human intervention. Previously, Kazakhstan did not have its own production of small arms ammunition, and all the country’s needs were met from old stocks or purchased abroad.
During a visit to the plant, the Prime Minister noted that the plant must operate at full capacity, so it is necessary to organize its loading through planned orders from law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, volume of production in the manufacturing industry in Kazakhstan increased by 6.9 percent in January 2024 compared to the same period last year. Growth was recorded in 14 regions, the largest increase occurred in Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Abay regions.
Among the manufacturing industries, production growth was achieved in mechanical engineering at a level of about 18 percent. Including in the automotive industry by 30 percent, in the production of electrical equipment by 44 percent.

In 2024, 180 industrial projects costing 1.2 trillion tenge (about $2.62 billion) will be implemented.
At the same time, as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Mechanical Engineering until 2028, the total added value of this industry is expected to increase by 4.5 times.
