Kazakhstan increases exports to EAEU countries

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 20. Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to $28.5 billion from January through December 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of trade turnover decreased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($29.3 billion).

At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to the EAEU countries for the above period amounted to $11.05 billion, which is 9.4 percent less than from January through December 2022 ($10.1 billion).

In addition, imports from the EAEU countries from January through December 2023 decreased by 9.3 percent and amounted to $17.4 billion. In 2022, imports amounted to $19.2 billion.

Among the EAEU countries, Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in 2023 was Russia. Thus, trade turnover between the countries amounted to $25.9 billion. Of these, exports to Russia were $9.7 billion, and imports from Russia were $16.2 billion.

To note, the volume of foreign trade turnover in Kazakhstan amounted to $139.8 billion from January through December 2023. This is 3.2 percent higher than in the same period in 2022.

Exports totaled $78.6 billion (in nominal terms, 7 percent less than the same time in 2022). At the same time, imports grew by 20.1 percent, totaling $61.1 billion.
