EBRD updates projects portfolio in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 7. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) current project portfolio in Kazakhstan reaches 2.77 billion euros as of January 31, 2024, based on the implementation of 117 active portfolio projects, Trend reports.

According to the bank's data, investments in sustainable infrastructure projects have climbed to 71 percent of the overall portfolio. At the same time, the volume of investments increased from 1.91 billion to 1.95 billion euros.

The EBRD's portfolio continues to include 24 percent of industrial, trade, and agro projects. However, volume increased to 654 million euros from 643 million euros.

The financial sector portfolio remained steady in terms of share. Investments in financial institutions constitute 6 percent of the portfolio (the investment volume increased from 149 million to 164 million euros).

Meanwhile, the bank has invested about 10 billion euros in 317 projects in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is the EBRD's largest and longest-running Central Asian banking business.
