BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. The UAE is the main trading partner of Kyrgyzstan in the Middle East and Gulf region, said President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov today during a meeting with the President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Trend reports citing the press service of Kyrgyz president.
During the meeting in UAE's capital Abu Dhabi, prospects for developing ties as well as issues of enhancing cooperation in trade, economic, educational, humanitarian, investment, and other areas of mutual interest were considered.
According to Japarov, the trade turnover between the two countries totaled $69 million in the first 8 months of this year.
He also noted positive indicators in trade and economic relations - this year, exports of environmentally friendly meat products and drinking water from Kyrgyzstan to the UAE have started, and in the near future it is planned to open direct flights between the cities of Dubai and Osh, and the tourism sector is developing.
Al Nahyan for his part expressed his willingness to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan, suggesting boosting mutual trade turnover.
Furthermore, the Kyrgyz president invited Emirati investors to jointly implement projects to create a regional air hub in Kyrgyzstan, as well as projects in the field of hydropower.
