BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Farms of the Hojambaz district of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan have collected about 100 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Turkmenistan, the farmers of the district have fully fulfilled the set plan for collecting silkworm cocoons this season.
The farming enterprises of the district collected 97 tons of silkworm cocoons last year, which is 3 percent less than this year.
In general, the Lebap region collected 1,060 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, which is 4.95 percent more than the planned volume (1,010 tons).
Silk is one of the most important agricultural products grown in Turkmenistan. The main silk production regions in the country are Mary, Ahal, and Lebap regions.
