Uzbekistan eyes establishing industrial co-op with Latvian locomotive repair plant

Uzbekistan and Latvia agreed to start working out the issue of establishing industrial cooperation with Daugavpils Locomotive Repair Plant in Latvia, Trend reports referring to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov paid a working visit to the Latvian city of Daugavpils, during which he met with the mayor of the city Igor Prelatov and discussed prospects for Uzbek-Latvian interregional cooperation.

According to the mayor of Daugavpils, the city has over 4,000 different enterprises specializing in production of metal products, food products, chemical fibers, electrical cables, as well as one of the largest factories in the Baltics for the manufacture and repair of railway rolling stock - Daugavpils Locomotive Repair Plant (DLRP).

It is noted that the priority areas of partnership are the railway, metal-production, agricultural woodworking and chemical-technological spheres.

As a result of the visit and the meetings held, an agreement was reached to start working out the issue of establishing direct contacts of Daugavpils with one of the industrially developed cities of Uzbekistan, establishing industrial cooperation with DLRP.
