BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. The volume of non-performing loans (NPL) issued by Uzbek banks from January through May, 2022 increased by 30.5 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
This figure amounted to 18.3 trillion soums ($1.7 billion) from January through May, 2022, which is 5.3 percent of the total volume of all issued loans.
The volume of NPL from January through May, 2021 amounted to 14 trillion soums ($1.3 billion).
From January through May, 2022, the NPL of state-owned banks of Uzbekistan accounted for 16 trillion soums ($1.5 billion), while private banks’ NPL accounted for 2.2 trillion soums ($202.4 million).
