BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 24. Uzbekistan has set up new solar panels with capacity of 50 kW on the building of khokimyat (municipality) of the Fergana region, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

The newly set up solar power station on the building will generate 90,000 kWh of electricity per year. As a result, 30,000 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.

Installing the mentioned panels will help to reduce the annual cost of electricity of the building by 72 million soums ($6,409).

Uzbekistan pays special attention to the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources (RES). It is expected to increase the share of electricity production using all types of RES to a level of at least 25 percent by 2026.
