TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 10. Russia ranks first in the number of enterprises with foreign investments established in Uzbekistan as of September 2023, Trend reports.
The number of enterprises with Russian investments in Uzbekistan amounts to 2,849, which make up 22.3 percent of the total number of operating enterprises with foreign investments in the country.
The number of newly founded businesses with foreign investment from January through August of 2023 is also led by Russia, which sponsored 425 businesses during this time.
Russia accounted for 18.8% of all foreign loans and investments made available to Uzbekistan during the first half of 2023. Over $10 billion has been invested by Russia in Uzbekistan's economy overall.
Meanwhile, the total number of active enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan amounted to 12,750 as of September 1, 2023.
Overall, companies have invested a total of 139.1 trillion Uzbek soums ($11.4 billion) in Uzbekistan in the first six months of 2023. A significant share of these investments, 59 trillion soums ($4.8 billion), or 42.4 percent, account for foreign investment and loans directed to fixed capital.
