Uzbekistan notes growth in number of bank cards issued into circulation

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 3. The number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan amounted to 48.8 million from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

According to the data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU), this figure has increased by 30.4 percent year-on-year (37.4 million cards issued in January–April 2023).

Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank, by issuing 11.1 million bank cards, has become the leader. Aqrobank ranks second with 4.6 million bank cards, followed by Uzbekistan's Ipotekabank (4.2 million bank cards).

The CBU notes that the smallest number of bank cards issued into circulation was registered in Uzbekistan’s Yangi bank – 940.

Meanwhile, the number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan amounted to 48.3 million as of April 2024. This figure has increased by 32.3 percent year-on-year (36.5 million cards as of April 2023).

Uzbekistan promotes contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service places and providing QR codes as needed.
