The eighth parliament of the Islamic Republic has officially opened with the inaugural message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, reported PressTV.
The opening ceremony of Iran's eighth Majlis started with the country's national anthem. Head of the Leader's Office, Gholam-Hossein Mohammadi Golpayegani, then read out the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the ongoing inaugural session. The ceremony is to be followed by the report of the caretaker of the Interior Ministry on the trend of the elections for the eighth Majlis.
The Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, Head of the Assembly of Experts and Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Secretary of the Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, and a number of other civil and military dignitaries are attending the opening ceremony.
Foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran are also present at the session.
