BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. Iran's imports of trucks in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024) increased by 65.9 percent in value terms and 74 percent in quantity terms compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through May 21, 2023), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports.
According to him, 1,278 trucks worth $141 million were imported to Iran during the past two months.
Rezvanifar noted that during the same period last year, 733 trucks worth $85 million were imported to the country.
The official stated that based on the decision of Iran's Cabinet of Ministers, it is possible to import trucks with a year of manufacture less than five years old.
The deputy minister continued by saying that since August 2021, when the current Iranian government took office, 27,216 trucks valued at $1.9 billion had been brought into the nation.
Note that, Iran currently employs 435,000 trucks and 555,000 drivers.
More than 555 million tons of goods were transported between 31 provinces of Iran by trucks in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
