BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has appointed Ahmad Motahhari Asl as his representative to the province of East Azerbaijan in northwestern Iran, Trend reports.
The new representative of Iran's Supreme Leader will also become imam of the Juma Mosque in Tabriz. He will succeed Muhammad Ali Hashim, who died in a plane crash.
To note, the helicopter flying from Khudaferin to Tabriz with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, representative of Iran's Supreme Leader in Tabriz Muhammad Ali Hashim, and Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Malik Rehmati crashed on May 19. The Iranian President and the entire delegation accompanying him died.
