International sanctions against Iran impose some 15-20 percent additional costs for import of goods, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said.

He made the remarks in his speech during a meeting with people in the country's northern Sari city, the State IRINN TV reported Oct. 12.

Certain people suppose that Tehran is pursuing closer ties with the West, via nuclear talks, Rouhani said, underlining that his administration only follows the country's interests and does not separate West and East.

Rouhani further said that his administration entered the nuclear talks to better the welfare of the Iranian people.

"The issue which is important for us is economic growth and the youth employment."

He underlined that Iran negotiated with world powers with "courage and power" and acquired all its rights in the nuclear talks.

He also stressed that his administration will make efforts to attract capital and technology into the country.

"We will remove restrictions on international relations to prepare grounds for economic prosperity and improving productivity and exports," he added.

Iran and the P5+1 (the US, the UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a comprehensive nuclear deal last July. It will curb Iran 's nuclear program in return for lifting economic sanctions.

Rouhani, along with a number of his cabinet members arrived in Sari, Mazandaran province on Oct 12. During his one-day stay, Rouhani is scheduled to meet local residents, officials and elites.
