Trend:

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of Iran's IRGC Aerospace Force, said 40 Daesh (IS) militants were killed during a recent missile attack on terrorists’ positions near Abu Kamal town on Syria’s eastern border with Iraq, Fars news agency reported.

“According to information received, 40 ringleaders of Daesh terror group were killed in the attack,” Hajizadeh said.

Corpses of the terrorists are still under rubles and not recovered yet, he added.

“According to the images after the strike, all targets were completely destroyed,” the commander said.

Early on Monday, IRGC launched a retaliatory attack against terrorists’ positions in the eastern Euphrates in Syria in response to a recent terror attack in the country’s southwestern city of Ahvaz.

During a military parade in Ahvaz, which was staged concurrently with nationwide military parades on September 22 to mark the Sacred Defense Week, militants opened fire at the people participating in the ceremony.

The attack was simultaneously claimed by the al-Ahvaziya terrorist group and Daesh.

More than 65 people were killed and injured during the assault.
